Please Allow Me to Explain…(an Introduction of sorts)

Do not adjust your set. You have not wandered into the wrong room. I have decided to take the Blogging 101 Challenge. And today’s assignment is to introduce myself. For some of you, we’ve already met. As for the rest, hello, my name is Barb and I’m pleased to make your acquaintance.

I’m afraid I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. Again. In a moment of temporary insanity, I signed up for WordPress’ Blogging  University, so I could learn more about blogging. I guess I felt I had too much free time.

I’ve been blogging on and off for the past year and a half. I have periods of great productivity, followed by months when my blog lies fallow. If I compare these periods with my calendar, I detect a pattern. I tend to be the most productive when I am enrolled in  writing courses. The creative dry spells seem to occur when family and work commitments demand more of my time.

I began blogging as a way to force myself to take the time to write. Occasionally I accomplish that goal. I am taking two college courses this semester, one on writing poetry, the other on writing short fiction. In addition to those courses, I am still working part-time as we sell our small company. Oh, and I have a semi-retired husband and  teen-aged twins who still demand my attention.

So, dear reader, if I occasionally seem distracted or you see me mumbling to myself over in the corner, please be kind.

  1. I am like you that I tend to get more done when I am busy with more things. When I have a lot of free time I tend to sit there with my mind wandering. Like your introduction post.
